Executive Summary
Journey Home is the trusted leader on ending homelessness as well as the lead agency for the coordinated network of emergency shelters, soup kitchens, homeless outreach workers, and rental assistance programs in Connecticut’s Capital Region. Journey Home’s Executive Director as well as other key staff have lived experience of homelessness, and the majority of staff have been marginalized on the basis of their race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or from being in recovery from addiction. Journey Home staff live all over the region, just as people who experience homelessness come from all over the region. Journey Home’s staff is also diverse in age, gender, marital status, family status just as the homeless population is also diverse in these ways. Journey Home has helped thousands of individuals and families experiencing homelessness gain housing stability, financial freedom, and improved health outcomes. We have also successfully cultivated and trained leaders among those with lived experience of homelessness to become advocates and leaders for social change. Journey Home is leading the racial equity efforts in the region. Journey Home is also the lead agency for pandemic response and recovery efforts for people experiencing homelessness in the region.Organization Details
