Executive Summary
We are an impassioned community organization serving parts of Florida's most vulnerable families, who are grappling with systemic inequities, poverty, food insecurity, and societal discrimination. Since our inception, we have impacted over 1 million people providing a vital lifeline to food and supports for our neighbors in crisis. Rooted in our community, our leadership and staff mirror the diverse lived experiences of those we serve, including firsthand experiences with homelessness, racism, and poverty, that inspire and inform our work.
Over the last five years, our work has evolved and expanded significantly in response to a 600% surge in demand for food, created by a substantial increase in cost of living in Florida, including Miami, currently ranked as one of the most expensive cities in the world. Focused on the four pillars of food security – food availability, access, utilization, and stability – we have pioneered an approach that respects our clients' diverse cultures and creates sustainable solutions for food insecure families.
Significant partnerships with retailers, community organizations, and businesses have helped us build a powerful network that strengthens and supports our community and our programs. We create lasting change by actively involving clients in program development, yielding optimal outcomes.
Our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is unwavering and deeply entrenched in our work. With staff, board, and key volunteers representing a myriad of backgrounds, abilities, and faiths, we co-create solutions with the communities we serve, democratizing access to nutrition and education, and enabling individuals to direct their own futures.
