Executive Summary
Branches is a place where we build community. We counteract injustice and social isolation by welcoming children and families into the ‘Branches family’. Every person is considered valuable and we find creative ways to help people live in to their potential. By building community together, the groundwork is laid for personal growth and transformation to take place.
Branches has learned and refined its approach to serve the whole family through community centers located within neighborhoods. Our programs engage children, youth, young adults and their families in life-changing opportunities for them to become better educated, to become more financially stable and to be empowered to make long-term, positive life choices.
At least 54% of Miami-Dade County’s residents are foreign-born and over 75% of households speak a language other than English at home. Our leadership team members each speak a language other than English fluently. We are immigrants ourselves or have extensive cross-cultural experience and the skills and knowledge to lead teams in helping participants navigate and overcome barriers to accessing resources and open doors to opportunities.
At Branches, improvement takes place in people’s lives through both attaining educational success and financial wellness. We create opportunities for elementary to post-secondary students to succeed academically and to experience the joy and wonder that are part of the learning process. We engage all students and adults in age appropriate financial education and coaching that empowers people to manage their finances in healthy and ultimately asset-building ways.
