Executive Summary
Since 2012, 12 Plus has partnered with high schools in underserved communities to build positive cultures that advance educational equity and equip students to pursue opportunities beyond the 12th grade. Present from the beginning of the school day to hours after it ends, the organization’s full-time teams integrate themselves into their schools, providing the resources and help needed to challenge the status quo of our communities.
12 Plus’s vision is to partner with the communities’ most under-resourced high schools to ensure that no student's education ends in the 12th grade. From our leaders' immigrant-family backgrounds to hiring former 12 Plus students who now serve in our PLUS Centers, our organization understands the incredible challenge youth face when accessing high-quality post-secondary opportunities. To address this, 12 Plus takes a holistic approach to tackle the most common shortfalls in post-secondary access, such as navigating complex admission applications, accessing millions in financial aid dollars, and drafting thoughtful and personalized college essays or cover letters. This is made possible through the unique “PLUS Centers” built in every partner school– carefully designed and curated rooms that provide 1-on-1 advising, workshop spaces, and beyond.
In over-a-decade of service, 12 Plus has evolved with the shifting economic and employment landscape, helping over 17,000 students pursue various post-secondary pathways, be it enrolling in college, training through a trade or vocational program, or entering directly into the workforce. No matter the path, 12 Plus believes that education–in any form–must continue beyond high school.
